Check out our spring newsletter for info on our after-school programming, youth centre, and community programs for all ages.

This spring, we are offering 16 different after-school programs for kindergarten to grade 9 students, with lots of opportunities to learn new skills, be active and spend time with peers. Many thanks to our community partners, volunteers and program leaders for working with us to offer these valuable programs.

March 16th marked the 2nd year anniversary of the CCSS Youth Centre! Open 3 days a week, all year round, the Centre continues to be popular, with an average of 20 youth attending each day and up to 40 youth on special event nights. A heartfelt thank you to Cumberland Community School, School District No. 71, the Village of Cumberland and Hinterland Studio for their ongoing support of this project.

Our program offerings aren’t just for kids! This spring, community members of all ages can sign up for an evening painting class, bingo, co-ed boot camp and more. Check out page 6 for more info.

We’re excited to announce that construction of the much anticipated skatepark is moving ahead in spring 2017. Over the past 4 1/2 years, CCSS has been working with the Village of Cumberland to develop and fundraise for this project. The 5200 square foot skatepark will be built adjacent to the Dog Park and Wellington Colliery Trail, in parallel with a Mountain Bike Jump Park. Designed with an emphasis on beginner to intermediate features to reflect Cumberland’s growing demographic of young families, the park will have a street section, a bowl and a mini-ramp. Follow our Facebook page for updates on construction and details on a Skatepark Building Workshop for Youth.

Happy Spring!
