New Program! Challenger Baseball

Challenger Baseball is an adaptive baseball and softball program designed to empower individuals living with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. By using the game of baseball as a foundation, we’ll focus on building connection, courage, independence, and a lifelong love of physical activity.

  • Who: Youth aged 12–16. No prior experience is necessary!
  • When: Tuesdays, May 5- June 23. 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM 
  • Where: Beaufort Field at Cumberland Community School
  • Cost: Free (Pre-registration is required).

Facilitators: Briar and Archie Pateman

This program is being offered by CCSS in partnership with the Jays Care Foundation.

Important note for caregivers: To ensure a supportive environment, all participants must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. If you are unable to have an adult accompany the participant, please contact us directly to discuss an accommodation.

Mamacentric

Celebrating the joys & challenges of parenthood. A drop-in program designed for moms & gender-diverse caregivers of children aged 0-5. Guest speakers, facilitated discussion and a chance to connect with other folks in your community.

  • Facilitator: Zoë Biggs
  • When: Wednesdays, 3:30-5 PM
  • Where: In the school garden on June 24, and moving to the No. 6 Mine Park starting July 8.
  • Cost: No cost. Pre-registration is not required

 

Familycentric

Presented by CCSS & Building Connections Project

Open gym time, fun, connections & a light dinner. Enjoy an evening as a family, making connections and building community. A free, drop-in program for 1- 5 yrs with a caregiver. 

  • Facilitator: Amy Bauman
  • When: Mondays 4:30- 6:30 PM. June 15.
  • Where: Strathcona Gym- Cumberland Community School
  • Cost: No cost. Pre-registration NOT required.

Queer Families Meet Up

A welcoming space for 2SLGBTQ+ families- including families with queer and trans parents, caregivers, and/or kids of all ages- to drop in, play and connect with their community. 

Facilitators: Zoë Biggs (they/them) and Holly Keen Goldes (they/them)

Summer Meet Up! Saturday July 25, 10 AM- 12 PM

Weekly Drop Ins! Tuesdays 3:30- 5 PM, June 23 and 30.

Babysitter Meet & Greet

Are you looking for some new babysitters? Need to play for afterschool care? Drop by to meet youth in your neighbourhood who are keen to start their babysitting careers. Bring your kids along to help with interviews and hang out at our activity table. 

  • When: Tuesday March 10, 4:30- 6:30 PM.
  • Where: Beaufort Multi-Purpose Room at Cumberland Community School.
  • Cost: No cost. Pre-registration not required.

To find the Beaufort Multi-Purpose Room, enter the front entrance of the school at 1st and Windermere. Turn left and head down the hallway. Room is halfway down on the right.
