Volunteer
CCSS is grateful to have a dedicated team of volunteers who help with food programs, after-school activities, bingo, community events and more. Our programs & events would not be possible without their generous contribution of time.
Interested in joining the team? Check out our current list of volunteer opportunities below and contact us with questions or to express interest.
Every time you volunteer your name will be entered into a draw for our Basket of Thanks! Draws take place 4 times a year and the lucky winners receive a basket with gift cards & specialty items from local shops.
Volunteer Opportunities
Board Members: CCSS is seeking community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors starting November 2026, with a minimum commitment of one year. If you’re passionate about collaboration, supporting our mission, and driving meaningful system change, we’d love to hear from you. Experience in non-profits, finance, fundraising, or policy writing is an asset—but dedication and enthusiasm are what matter most.
Food Share: Fridays 9- 11 AM. The Food Share provides bi-weekly deliveries of Food Hampers to Cumberland households experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers are needed to help with sorting and packing boxes, and delivering to houses (vehicle and drivers license required).
Bingo Callers: Commitment of one Wednesday a month 6:15- 10 PM. No experience necessary. You only need to be comfortable talking into a microphone.
Event Support: Help with a variety of events throughout the year including Kids Disco, Repair Cafe, and Thunderballs.
Bike Club Ride Leaders: Thursdays 2:45- 5 PM. Late September to November. Offered in partnership with UROC this after-school program provides an opportunity for students of all skill levels to ride in a supportive group setting. Ride leaders are responsible for leading a small group (with another ride leader) and encouraging a positive environment.
Volunteer Ride Leaders must:
- Provide a Criminal Record Clearance
- Be familiar with the Cumberland Trail Network
- Have the ability to handle minor mechanical bike repairs (ie. change a flat tube)
- Be a current UROC member
- Enjoy working with children & youth
- Current First Aid Certification is an asset.
If you are interested in volunteering with Bike Club, please send us an email and tell us about yourself – your experience, favourite trail and availability. Volunteers don’t need to commit to being there every week (although we sure wouldn’t complain if you did!).
